Gray Rhino & Company CEO Michele Wucker participated in a virtual panel discussion organized by Chapter Zero Italy and NED Community on assessing long-term climate impact scenarios, held July 6, 2023.
Starting from the Task force on Climate Financial Disclosure (TCFD) recommendations, the panel talked about the transmission channels of climate risk on companies’ performance and how to use scenario analysis as a tool for assessing exposure to long-term climate economic impact scenario risks.
The discussion on scenario analysis emphasized the relevance of addressing climate risk – defined as a “gray rhino” because it’s a highly probable, yet all too often, neglected threat – and to evaluate strategic choices in a responsible way, providing board members the tools to develop an open mindset, so they are able to tame gray rhinos.
